Tense


'Tempus' is a latin word the 'tense' is emigrated from it.

In sentence we have express the time of action by using a tense in English Grammar.

Kinds of Tense

There are 3 primary types of tenses in english.

1.Present Tense 2.Past Tense 3.Future Tense


Defination of Present Tense


Present Tense-current activities or running incidents other named  present tense in english grammar.

Examples


I do a job.

I am doing a job.

I have done a job.

I have been doing a job.

Defination of Past Tense

Past Tense-past incidents or happenining incidents other name are past Tense in english grammar.

Examples

I did a job.

I was doing a job.

I had done a job.

I had been doing a job.

Defination of Future Tense

Future Tense-An Incident that is not happend now it will be happen in future.This is called future tense in english grammar.

Examples

I shall do a job.

I shall be doing a job.

I shall have done a job.

I shall have been doing a job.


Subdivisions of Present Tense

Every Tense is divided by  four subdivision.In this way present tense has four subdivision.

1.Present Indefinite(Simple Present)

2.Present Continuous

3.Present Perfect

4.Present Perfect Continuous

Past Tense has four subdivisions.

1.Past Indefinite(Simple Past)

2.Past Continuous

3.Past Perfect

4.Past Perfect Continuous

Future Tense has four subdivisions.

1.Future Indefinite(Simple Future)

2.Future Continuous

3.Future Perfect

4.Future Perfect Continuous


Formation of Every Tense

There are total 12 types of Tense.

1.Simple present/Present Indefinite


Simple present formation

(S+v1+ o)

Here in this formation S indicates the  subject,V indicates the  verb and the number 1 indicate the verb form and then  O indicates the object in a sentense.

Examples

I eat rice.

I go.

He goes.

(Important information)

If subject is 3rd person singular in this tense than +s/es add on verb.so there is he+go+es in examples.

Present continuous


Formation of present continuous

(S+am/is/are+v+ing+o)

Examples-

I am going.

He is doing.

They are playing.


Present perfect

Formation of present perfect

(S+have/has+verb 3rd form+o)

Verb 3rd form means-past participle of verb.


Examples

I have done this work.

He has gone there.


Present perfect continuous

Formation of present perfect continuous

(S+has been/have been+v+ing+o)

Examples

I have been playing cards.

He has been doing this sum.


2.Past Indefinite/Simple Past

Formation of simple past

(S+v2+o)

Here verb 2 indicates the 2nd form of a verb in english.


Examples

I did it.

He went to college.


Past continuous

Formation of past continuous

(S+was/were+v+ing+o)

Examples

The kite was flying in the sky.

They were playing football.


Past perfect

Formation of past perfect

(S+had+v3rd +o)


Examples

I had done the job.

He had played a game.



Past perfect continuous

Formation of past perfect continuous

(S+had been+v+ing+o)

Examples

I had been eating banana.

He had been working.



Simple Future/future indefinite

Formation of simple future

(S+shall/will+v+o)


Examples

I shall go.

They will play.



Future continuous

Formation of future continuous

(S+shall be/will be+v+ing+o)

Examples

I shall be reading a book.

They will be doing their work.


Future perfect

Formation of future perfect

(S+shall have/will have+v3rd+o)

Examples

I shall have eaten rice.

They will have done a job.


Future perfect continuous

Formation

(S+shall have been/will have been+v+ing+o)

Examples

I shall have been writing a note.

They will have been dancing a dance.
